Dog Man

By:Dav Pilkey Location: GRA PIL Genre: Graphic Novel- Humour Series: Dogman#1 New from the creator of Captain Underpants, it's Dog Man, the crime-biting canine who is part dog, part man, and ALL HERO! Dog Man was silly, scrawly, goofy, and fun.  - Raina George and Harold have created a new hero who digs into deception, claws after crooks, and rolls over robbers. When Greg the police dog and his cop companion are injured on the job, a life-saving surgery changes the course of history, and Dog Man is born. With the head of a dog and the body of a human, this heroic hound has a real nose for justice. But can he resist the call of the wild to answer the call of duty?   I really appreciate how Pilkey pushes boundaries of good taste here, but in a way that's going to thrill kids and probably annoy adults. The whole premise for Dog Man is a little macabre--a dog gets his head sewed onto a cop's body--but because the whole thing is couched in such silliness, yo

A Talent for Murder

She feels a light touch on her back, causing her to lose her balance, then a sense of someone pulling her to safety from the rush of the incoming train. So begins a terrifying sequence of events—for her rescuer is no guardian angel, rather he is a blackmailer of the most insidious, manipulative kind. “You, Mrs. Christie, are going to commit a murder. I absolutely love the BBC series because Holmes has always been one of my favorites and Moffat has done a beautiful job of bringing him and Watson into today's day and age. He uses the classic cases as the bare bones to a plot that he then cleverly modernizes. This is the graphic novel version of the modern BBC version of A Study in Scarlet . I read Scarlet many times and until Moffat's first episode aired, I would never have even known where to begin modernizing it in a way that doesn't water down Doyle's perfect character, setting and mood. That Elementary show? Trash! compared to this. The illustrations were spot on. I love g
